Simple Delights

First, I'd like to say welcome to any new followers.   I'm glad you're here and hope you enjoy my musings.

I finally finished the Chronicles of Narnia.  It was a long journey, but one I'm certainly glad I experienced.  I found some of the books in the series to be more slow going and a bit harder to enjoy.  My favourite character, of course, was Lucy.  Her delight in simplicity and eagerness to please Aslan inspired me and made me feel as if I'd have a kindred spirit in her if she were real.

So, as of late, I've been reading Pride and Prejudice.  I've taken it in slowly, but I am now to a part in the story where I don't want to put the book down!  Too many unanswered questions.  I am thoroughly enjoying this read.  I have often found watching movies created from Jane Austen's novels are perfect for those times that I just need time to myself with a cup of tea and scones.  They're simple and beautiful, and I'm feeling the same way about reading her novels.  Plus, I just read in a magazine yesterday that doing things you love is an instant stress reliever.  One of my life goals is to visit Jane Austen's house.

Another simple delight I love?  Crochet.  I know I've spoken a bit of crochet in the past, and I must say, I'm addicted.  I love being able to do something with my hands that creates something beautiful and practical.  I love the fact that many of the patterns (at least the ones I use) allow me to focus on something else while doing something with my hands, because they're not so detailed that I have to concentrate on what I'm doing.  Must post photos of some of my crochet projects soon.  Consider it on my to-do list.

What are your simple delights?

  1. Ohh simple pleasures...its summer here, and my favorite simple pleasure is to just sit outside and feel the warmth of the sun. I miss the feeling of warmth so much all winter that I feel like I need to soak it in all summer to survive the winter!

  2. That sounds so nice! The sun is still out in winter here, but it's not nearly as warm! I am thankful for the sun, though. Winter in America can be so dreary. :)
